rogdesign.com
The Challenge:
Graphic designer Cheri Rogenhofer needed to showcase her growing portfolio online. A visual identity had already been developed through the use of a resume, business cards, and other in print marketing materials. The clean design style of Cheri Rogenhofer needed to be translated from in print designs to her online presence. The site needed easy navigation, simple content, clean design, and easy updating.
Our Strategy:
Following a pre-developed visual identity (logo, color scheme, and font) 1M designed a website that
fits perfectly with Cheri's print material.
Navigation was kept simple through the use of only 3 main navigation buttons. Two of which where used for solely contact and informational purposes, taking you outside of the site all together. The portfolio, is served up through the use of a simple sub navigation. Projects
The Outcome:
Launched in late June 2007, rogdesign.com was praised by client Cheri Rogenhofer and peers. The design followed her visual identity perfectly. The in-page navigation allowed
for clean page transitions. Portfolio projects were framed on the page in a consistent style and location allowing the visitor to focus their eye on either the project showcased, or the thumbnails of the next project. This effect on the users eye allows the site design to play a supporting role rather than an major one.
Web 2.0 best practices were used to ensure usability and to maximize the user experience. Through the use of technologies such as AJAX and best practices like css only design, 1M provided a design that is XHTML compliant according to the World Wide Web Consortium, bandwidth friendly for site visitors that have limited connection speeds, and a clean interface allowing the visitors eyes to always roam back to the web pages center piece, the portfolio. All of this was accomplished while ensuring that every portfolio piece is no more than two clicks away.
