Transitions In Governance 2008
The Challenge:
The Performance Coalition is poised to help shape the next Presidents Management Agenda by ensuring a continued focus and attention to management and performance issues; to refine past efforts and highlight related governance policies that affect performance. The websites role is:
-
Allow high level government employees, and other tax paying citizens to have open dialogue regarding what they feel should be the administrations priority;
-
Collect and disseminate research and information to the public;
-
Maintain a level of informational and visual cohesiveness with multiple printed material.
Our Strategy:
We made sure to transfer the visual identity developed for the Transition's promotional material to it's website. To ensure transparency, and to facilitate communication, easy to use - non intrusive contact forms were used heavily to maximize the sites visitors ability to share best practices, thoughts, and ask questions directed to the Performance Coalition.
The navigation was kept simple specifically without the use of drop down menus, there was no need for cumbersome bread crumb navigation. Search engine optimization was utilized by the use of very specific key words, descriptions, and page names.
The Outcome:
The site when launched was introduced to government professionals via viral marketing. Traffic instantly jumped, with a slew of questions, best practices, and opinions on the needed direction of the next administration. No less than a month after the sites launch an article in the The Washington Post announced the Transitions In Governance 2008's mission.
Update:
The site has since been turned into a weblog to maximize the ability of The Performance Coalition to quickly post content, and to allow site visitors to comment and converse on their views. This blog kept the general layout and some design elements of the site designed my 1M, although we had little involvement in the further development, and ever changing make up of the site.
